Day 1
Board your overnight flight across and cross the Atlantic on your way to Greece.
Day 2
Meet Dr. Johnson (Director of International
Education/Leadership) at the airport in Athens where we'll board our
charter bus and head into the city of Athens. Here we'll begin with an
overview and walking tour of Athens, the cradle of Western
Civilization. You'll have to pinch yourself to believe that you're
really there! We'll get settled into our centrally located hotel to get
settled and have a brief time of orientation. After a Greek dinner and
some fellowship, well drop into bed.
Day 3
On our second day in Athens we will begin our "Connecting the Dots" leadership course. Then well head out to the iconic Acropolis, the Agora, the Parthenon, the Temple of Athena, and the Theatre of Dionysus, where the plays of Athenian dramatists were first performed. We will also sit on Mars Hill
and talk about the Apostle Paul's brilliant conversation with the
intellectuals of his day! After lunch and some free time for shopping,
we'll head over to the popular and very informative National Museum of Archeology.
Then it's back to the hotel for the continuation of our leadership
training sessions followed by dinner and some free time in the hotel.
Day 4
In the morning we'll continue our leadership training before heading off to the ancient city of Corinth,
the subject of two of the Apostle Paul's epistles. This city, at one
time known for the wild lifestyles of its citizens during the time of
Paul, is now mostly famous for its ancient glories, especially the
6th?century BC Temple of Apollo and the Roman Agora and Odeon.
We'll also take a ride over to the beach and see the site where Paul's
ship docked as he began his missionary journey to Corinth.
Day 5
Following our leadership training this morning, we'll head to the Plaka District of Athens to allow some shopping and lunch. Then we're off to the city of Delphi
where we will see the Temple of Apollo and the Delphi museum. On the
way we will pause at Schiste, the spot where it is believed Oedipus
slew his father, and we will also visit the mountain village of
Arachova, famous for its hand loomed rugs, bags, and blankets. In the
evening our leadership course will continue.
Day 6
This morning we'll head to the ancient sites of Delphi. We will walk along the marble Sacred Way,
the road visitors have walked on for millennia. We'll see the site of
ancient prophecies, via the "Oracle" and discuss the mystery that
surrounds this psychic priestess. On our final day in Greece we will
head back to Athens where we will enjoy a final meal together and a
time of recap!
Day 7
Depart from Athens with a lifetime of great memories!
