Day 2

Arrive in Cairo, Egypt's capital and Africa's largest city. More than 22 million people call it home; it's chaotic, exotic, smelly, dusty, and absolutely beautiful. After transferring to our hotel and get settled, we will share in a brief time of orientation and a late dinner. In the evening we'll take a walk down by the Nile River and enjoy the cool breezes from the world's longest river.

Day 3

After breakfast we will begin with a visit to the Pyramids, the site of the only surviving member of the "Seven Wonders of the World." At this site you will have the option of renting a camel for a unique ride through the desert or you can opt to have our charter bus take you to the viewing site. Either way, you'll not soon forget your visit to this grand site! Then it's on to visit the Sphinx and the Valley Temple. After lunch we'll continue our journey to Sakkara and the famous Step Pyramid. Along the way we'll stop to visit the Papyrus Institute and a rug factory where you'll witness the unbelievable artistry of young people who train for this all their lives.

Day 4

After breakfast we will head over to the Egyptian Museum. The museum houses more than 250,000 Egyptian monuments. This treasure trove includes the magnificent artifacts of the famous King Tutankhamen of the 18th Dynasty. And you'll see more mummies than you'll know what to do with! After lunch, our training course "How to Build a Life" begins!

Day 5

Class will continue this morning. After class and lunch we'll head over to the Khan al Kaleli Bizarre where we will first visit the Al Husseni Mosque. This mosque is one of the holiest sites in Cairo. It is said to contain the head of Hussein, grandson of the Prophet Mohammed. Formerly off limits to non Muslims, they have in recent years allowed visitors in and we will take advantage of the opportunity! In the evening, we'll take a felucca ride on the Nile River.

Day 6

Our studies about how to strategize a meaningful and intelligent life will continue in the morning followed by a visit the Citadel, the medieval fortress of Salah El Din. Then we'll take in the Hanging Church and the Jewish and Coptic areas of Cairo.

Day 7

It's time to head north! Today we will head up to the city of Alexandria. Here we will see the beautiful Mediterranean cost, the Alexandria library and will take time to cool off in the Mediterranean. It'll be a full, but restful day!

Day 8

Today marks a special time in our trip. After lunch, we will participate in unique activities that will include discussions and a debate with Egyptian university students regarding issues of politics, philosophy and even psychology. This exchange will allow us to understand Egyptian and Islamic culture a little better. It will also give us an opportunity to share a bit of our own culture with these new friends.

Day 9

This morning we'll board our plane for home. Having conquered Cairo, you can now consider yourself a seasoned traveler!
